Wheels & tyres might seem a straightforward subject but if I get this wrong the whole appearance of the car will be pants.
So...what size and type of wheels do I want? 17 inch, 18 inch, 20 inch? Billet or Cast? Black or Chrome? Chrome with black middles? Traditional or spoked? Spinners or not? And what about tyres..! Avon, Goodyear, Pirelli, Michelin..! And what size and specification? Size definition is an art in itself and links in very nicely with the calibration of the speedo... I need to take notes and do some surfing.
After a long and arduous period of research and head-scratching and looking at what different styles look like on other cars, I went for 18-inch Halibrand's (GTD5's Classic style) in chrome -with spinners obviously. I like the clean and unfussy look of these; a benefit being dirt won't get trapped and encrusted in the many screw holes that connect the outer and inner rim to the central hub.
Specification:
- Wheels: 8.5 x 18” front, 10 x 18” rear. Halibrand GTD5 Classic build (all chrome) with a cover plate for 5 stud fitment and spinner
- Tyres: 245 x 40 x 18" front, 275 x 40 x 18" rear. Michelin Pilot Sport/Super Sport (Tyre/rim size explained)
